Seth Meyers: Trump so out of bounds, he's now 'your druggie cousin who can no longer surprise you'

On Thursday, "Late Night" host Seth Meyers said that President Donald Trump's attacks on the FBI and former Director James Comey are "completely inappropriate," then used footage of Republicans defending Comey against attacks by Democrats to support the assertion.

Meyers rolled clips of Vice President Mike Pence, Senior White House aide Kellyanne Conway and Trump himself all defending Comey against attacks by Democrats for his revelation in the days before the election that questions linger in the investigation of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State -- an assertion he later was forced to walk back.

Now we have "clear, damning evidence that the president lied," Meyers said, but Republicans like Rep. Paul Ryan (WI) and Gov. Chris Christie (NJ) are actually attempting to defend Trump by saying he's new to the job and doesn't know what he's doing.

Meyers also poked fun at White House aides' decision to keep the president distracted and busy all day "like a toddler on a road trip" so he wouldn't be tempted to respond to Comey's testimony in real time on Twitter.

Meyes said that if it feels like Thursday's testimony didn't contain any bombshells, it's only because we're surrounded by so many bombshells already that we've gone numb. In this way, Meyers said, Trump is "like your druggie cousin who can no longer surprise you."

"Kevin traded Aunt Janet's cat for Robitussin," he deadpanned. "Uh huh. Did he?"
