Shep Smith takes shot at Hannity and Tucker: 'They don't really have rules -- they can say whatever'

Fox News' Shepard Smith, who has often quarreled with some of his own colleagues about the quality of information they feed to their viewers, recently conducted an interview with Time Magazine in which he took a not-so-veiled shot at Fox hosts such as Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson.

During the interview, Smith outlined the differences between what Fox News hosts like he and Chris Wallace try to do and what "opinion" hosts such as Hannity, Carlson, and Laura Ingraham try to accomplish.

"We serve different masters," he said of the two sides of Fox News. "We work for different reporting chains, we have different rules."

In fact, Smith continued, one difference between himself and hosts like Hannity is that Hannity doesn't seem to have any standards about what he'll say on his program.

"They don't really have rules on the opinion side," Smith said. "They can say whatever they want. If it’s their opinion. I don’t really watch a lot of opinion programming. I’m busy."

Smith last year came under criticism of Hannity for offering coverage that was critical of Trump's presidency. Smith responded simply by saying, "Sometimes facts are displeasing."
