Georgia prosecutors will offer a plea agreement to the first two defendants in the racketeering case involving Donald Trump.
Fulton County prosecutor Nathan Wade confirmed that district attorney Fani Willis' office would allow attorneys Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell to plead guilty in exchange for lesser sentences, although he didn't offer any details about terms of the proposed agreement, reported Politico's Kyle Cheney.
A Georgia judge agreed this month to allow Chesebro and Powell to go to trial sooner than the other 17 defendants, including the former president, and their trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 23.
It's not clear whether Chesebro or Powell will be asked to cooperate with investigators as part of their plea agreement, which prosecutors could be offering to avoid showing some evidence in the case ahead of trials for the other defendants.
