Ski club sides with 'f*cking racist pussy' white supremacist over neocon in personal dispute

Residents packed a City Council meeting to protest a white supremacist group headquartered in the Montana resort town.

"The idea of hate and discrimination has no place in Whitefish, and I hope you can figure out a way to say, 'We will not accept it in our town,’" said Ina Albert, founder of the group Love Lives Here.

The white supremacist “think tank,” the National Policy Institute, is based in the town where its director, Richard Spencer, lives.

A private ski club in the town recently sided with Spencer in a personal dispute with another member, Randy Scheunemann, a neoconservative foreign policy expert, former lobbyist for the Georgian government, and former advisor to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

The pair got into an argument during a chance encounter on a ski lift and then resumed the dispute during a Christmas party at the Big Mountain Club.

Spencer berated Scheunemann after learning he worked in Washington “for being a neocon and for believing in this whole democracy BS.”

Scheunemann – who called the 36-year-old Spencer a “f*cking racist pussy” in front of other members at the holiday event -- told the club it must choose between him and the white nationalist.

The club chose to keep Spencer as a member and expelled Scheunemann – several weeks after the white nationalist was arrested and expelled from Hungary, where he was organizing an international congress of white supremacists.

The club has declined requests for comment on the matter.

National Policy Institute founder William Regnery II, an heir to the right-wing publishing company, was turned away in September at the Hungarian border, and Spencer was arrested in early October for failing to carry his passport as he attempted to sneak into Budapest via Austria.

White supremacist Jared Taylor took over as organizer of the event, which was held as a private dinner for fewer than 100 attendees -- about half the number registered to attend.

Spencer, an avid Depeche Mode fan and former editor of Pat Buchanan’s American Conservative magazine, announced last year during a white supremacists conference that he had a dream, in a twisted echo of Martin Luther King’s speech.

He called for the creation of a “white homeland” that would be accomplished through some type of unspecified “peaceful ethnic cleansing.”

Rachel Maddow drew attention to the white nationalist National Policy Institute and its ties to the mainstream anti-immigration Heritage Foundation last year during a segment on her MSNBC program.

Maddow reported that Jason Richwine, the co-author of a controversial Heritage Foundation report criticizing a U.S. Senate immigration reform bill, had written a research study that found recent Hispanic immigrants had a “real cognitive deficit” compared to U.S.-born whites.

Richwine, who eventually resigned from the conservative think tank over his previous research, also had written for AlternativeRight.com, a web forum operated by Spencer and the white supremacist think tank he oversees.
