Donald Trump ally Steve Bannon promised the Trump administration would come out swinging like never before in an extensive interview with Politico published Tuesday.
“I tell people, ‘shock and awe' was a ‘17 concept. ‘Days of thunder,’ I think are gonna be the concepts starting next Monday,” Bannon told Politico. “And I think these days of thunder starting next week are going to be incredibly, incredibly intense.”
He added that he expects one of the main differences in this next administration is that it will be better at keeping discipline and tamping down the leaking and visible infighting that plagued Trump the last time — in part due to the leadership of Susie Wiles, the GOP strategist Trump tapped to serve as White House chief of staff.

She is a “safe pair of hands,” he asserted.
Bannon served a brief prison sentence last year for contempt of Congress after he refused to provide information to the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. He is now set to face a state trial in New York for fraud allegations over his "We Build the Wall" scheme that authorities said bilked money out of Trump supporters. A similar federal case charging Bannon over this scheme was sidelined by a pardon from Trump on his way out of office.
Despite Bannon's confidence the MAGA sphere will better be able to hold itself together this time, in recent weeks, Bannon has also emerged as one of the most strident pro-Trump voices attacking the influence of tech billionaire Elon Musk, who has become a key part of Trump's advisory group on fiscal policy through his "Department of Government Efficiency" task force.
