Authorities in California have launched a hate crime investigation after three crosses belonging to a church were set on fire, KTLA reported.
A fire department captain told KTLA that an "accelerant" was likely used at Christian Fellowship Church in Sylmar, but it hasn't yet been confirmed. The church has predominantly Black congregants.
“It’s a shame that people still want to do things like this, in this day and age,” the church’s pastor, Pierre Howard, told reporters. “We’re going to put those three crosses back up … We’re moving forward. Nothing stops us.”

Someone associated with the church posted a photo on Facebook of a wooden cross outside the building.
“Good morning Family and Friends! We want to let everyone know that we are doing well and the church is Good,” the church member wrote in the social media post. “We thank you for your prayers.”
