President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani is mudding things up for the president after he made contradicting statements about Trump's relationship with Russia. On Monday CNN's Jim Sciutto and Sara Murray laughed at how "confusing" Giuliani has been.
"Rudy Giuliani today is making things more confusing. It started in a series of interviews that Trump discussed the Trump tower Moscow project all the way up to election day which is much longer than previously known," he said. "What is the bottom line from Giuliani's standpoint?"
"The bottom line is he seems to talk first and figure out the facts later," Murray responded. "It doesn't clarify when the conversations about Moscow actually ended."
Murray then noted that Giuliani is muddying up Trump's week which could have been a positive news cycle. This is in part because Special Counsel Robert Mueller denied parts of a Buzzfeed article that suggested the president directed his former lawyer Michael Cohen to lie to Congress. This was seen as a slight win for Trump who often cries "fake news."
However, with his lawyer's confusing interviews it is still unclear where Trump's relationship with Russia stands.
"So theoretically this should have been a good news cycle for the president and his legal team," she said.
