Tantrum-prone GOPer warns House not to send Senate half-baked impeachment plan

Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives have unanimously voted to formalize an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, but where the inquiry will ultimately lead remains to be seen. If the House eventually votes "yes" on any possible articles of impeachment, those articles would go to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

A conviction in a Senate trial would be unlikely, as Democrats have a small Senate majority, and Senate Democrats have been attacking the impeachment inquiry as baseless and absurd.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Oklahoma), a far-right MAGA Republican, has been a major critic of the Biden Administration. But Mullin fears that the Biden impeachment inquiry might be unsuccessful.

During an appearance on Newsmax — the cable news outlet that prides itself on being to the right of Fox News — Mullin stressed, "If they send us a case, make sure it's convictable. The bar is real high, there's no question about it. It's gotta be a misdemeanor, high crime or treason."

Mullin added that House Republicans would have to show that an alleged offense on Biden's part was "committed while he was in office — the current office he holds."

The MAGA senator told Newsmax, "So, what he did as the vice president — what he did in between the two — may not be impeachable."
