Taxpayer-subsidized Noah's Ark theme park will only hire job seekers who believe Earth is 6,000 years old

Creationist Ken Ham will be opening a taxpayer-subsidized religious theme park in July -- but don't bother applying unless you buy into the extreme Christian belief that the Earth is only 6,000 years old, according to the Friendly Atheist.

The controversial Ark Encounter, which received $18 million in tax incentives from Kentucky legislators, is scheduled to open July 7.

In preparation for the theme park's opening, Answers in Genesis is hiring staff -- from warehouse workers to "dinosaur costume actor" to senior web developers. But as a prerequisite to being hired, job seekers must submit a "creation belief statement" and "salvation testimony."

Further, applicants must also submit "Confirmation of your agreement with the [Answers in Genesis] Statement of Faith, which according to their website includes items like, "Scripture teaches a recent origin for man and the whole creation, spanning approximately 4,000 years from creation to Christ" and "The only legitimate marriage sanctioned by God is the joining of one naturally born man and one naturally born woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture."

These requirements seem to indicate non-Christian, or even non-Creationist job seekers will not be considered for employment. As the Friendly Atheist noted, a judge ruled in January that hiring discrimination is legal, despite the tax incentive Ham is receiving.

The completed "ark" will be eight stories high, 450 feet long and 150 feet wide.
