Fox News abruptly cut away from a live shot Tuesday after a protester interrupted a reporter to call the Republican tax bill a scam.
Reporter Peter Doocy, whose father Steve Doocy co-hosts "Fox & Friends," was outside the Capitol updating viewers on the tax reform vote when a woman walked into the shot.
"Here's how confident House Republicans are that they have the votes," Doocy said, when the woman approached.
"The tax bill is a scam," the woman said, as she stepped in front of the reporter.
"Excuse me, you can see that obviously there are two protesters here so far," Doocy said, raising his eyebrows suggestively. "We're just going to swing it over here."
Doocy walked away from the woman, who repeated "the tax bill is a scam," and Fox News producers cut the live video feed and showed footage of GOP lawmakers at a news conference.
"People with developmental disabilities, the tax bill is a scam that's going to hurt people," the woman said.
Producers then cut the audio feed and tossed the segment back to the studio.
"Peter, we've got you, and we've got that there's some things going on there," said anchor Sandra Smith, back at the studio. "Hopefully we'll get back to you in just a bit. But this is a historic day."
