‘This is not a drill!': Michael Moore calls for 'non-violent disruption' of Trump's inauguration

Michael Moore Friday detailed his plans for the 2017 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump, telling the Hollywood Reporter that “if by some awful happenstance Trump shows up to be sworn in on January 20th,” he will “lead the national protest” and non-violently disrupt the ceremony.

In an email to THR, the outspoken liberal filmmaker argued that it’s still not a sure thing that Trump will actually be sworn in on Inauguration Day, insisting “if there's one thing we've learned from this election, don't assume anything that's supposed to happen will.”

While most pundits and commentators were certain that Hillary Clinton had the presidency in the bag, Moore correctly predicted that Trump would win, nailing what he called “the Rust Belt Brexit.

“I believe Trump is going to focus much of his attention on the four blue states in the rustbelt of the upper Great Lakes – Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin,” Moore correctly predicted in July. “He doesn’t need Colorado or Virginia. Just Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. And that will put him over the top. This is how it will happen in November.”

Still, Moore’s admitted many people throughout the election were unwilling to admit that the status quo needs shaking. Citing Bernie Sanders’ surprising popularity during the Democratic primaries, Moore told THR, “If I had told you a year ago that a socialist would win nearly half of all the Democratic primaries and caucuses (22), that would have sounded insane,” adding the same holds true for the meteoric rise of Trump.

“If I would have told you that a candidate bragging about his sexual assaults or attacking a Gold Star family would be his path to winning, you would have ended this interview,” Moore continued. “If I would have told you that Donald Trump was going to win, you might have called upon a family member of mine to do an intervention.”

Moore said if in fact Trump does get sworn in on January 20, he will “I will be there helping lead the national protest and non-violently disrupting the Inauguration of a man no one other than the electoral college elected—and I'll also be doing my own thing as a private citizen (activities I won't disclose now).”

Moore said he expects Republicans to move swiftly following the inauguration, predicting they will “call a Saturday session on Jan. 21st and start enacting an assembly line of legislation, passing bills into law by voice vote, and rushing them up Pennsylvania Ave. for Trump's signature.”

“This impending disaster requires everyone to get involved now—all hands on deck!” Moore wrote. “This is not a drill!”
