'It's a train wreck': Howard Dean accuses Trump of 'compromising' FBI investigation into Kavanaugh's past

Calling the entire Supreme Court nomination and hearing process a "train wreck," former Vermont Governor Howard Dean (D) accused President Donald Trump of interfering with the FBI's investigation into sexual assault claims made against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Appearing on MSNBC with host Alex Witt, the former Democratic National Committee head expressed disgust with everything involving Kavanaugh -- starting with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) for attempting to "try the thing in the press" by running to multiple cable outlets after the hearings.

"It's a train wreck," he continued. "It's a train wreck for the Supreme Court. You know 70 percent of the public already thinks the Supreme Court is a political body and this is obviously going to drive that number higher. I don't think it is going to be too great for the Republicans either in the upcoming elections."

"You know, it sounds like the FBI investigation may be compromised by the president so it is a huge mess," he continued by noting that earlier in the day NBC reported that the White House is still hindering the investiagtion despite official disclaimers.

"This is not going to get any better in the foreseeable future," he lamented.
