An election-denying Republican congressional candidate demanded Colorado Supreme Court justices be arrested and tried for treason for disqualifying Donald Trump from the presidential primary in that state.
Trent Leisy, who is running for the GOP nomination in the race to succeed Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), is organizing a Dec. 30 rally against what he called "four traitor justices" that will conclude at a Colorado Springs gun shop owned by an incendiary conservative activist, reported KUSA-TV.
“Since four of the all-Democrat-appointed Colorado Supreme Court justices have decided to betray our Constitution, attempt to take our rights away, and stop us from voting for Rightful President Trump, even if we write-in his name, they should definitely be tried for treason in a courtroom,” Leisy told the TV station in an email.
The FBI is investigating a wave of violent threats against the justices who found Trump had engaged in insurrection and was thus ineligible to hold public office under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
But Leisy insisted his rally, organized with influential conservative Joe Oltmman, would be peaceful.

"We have to stand up and rise peacefully and I want to make that clear — peacefully — because this is what this is, to show our support for President Trump and our disdain for what these four leftist judges did," Leisy told KRDO-TV last week.
Oltmann, who owns DCF Guns and has previously called for the mass execution of his political opponents and has been sued for defamation by Dominion Voting Systems, frequently warns of political violence and urged his followers to stock up on firearms and other battle gear.
“We need to revolt,” Oltmann posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Dec. 25. “2024 we take our nation back from these demons.”
Longtime Oltmann ally John “Tig” Tiegen, who leads the armed group United American Defense Force, has indicated he'll take part in the rally, and he echoed Leisy's rhetoric about the Supreme Court justices who ruled against the former president, as well as FBI investigators.
“These aren’t judges, they’re tyrannical dictators!” Tiegen posted Saturday on X.
