Trevor Noah: Open carry laws turned Texas into a nonstop gay pride parade for gun nuts

Trevor Noah compared the exuberance of open-carry advocates to men undeniably celebrating their homosexuality at gay pride parades.

The "Daily Show" host reported that Texas had expanded its open carry laws to include handguns, along with military-style rifles and other long guns that have been legally and openly carried for years.

"Basically, it's like they started at a 10 on the crazy scale, and now they're saying, 'You know what, let's throw in a seven, as well,'" Noah said.

He said gun lovers immediately took to the streets with their guns after the law went into effect New Year's Day, and he supposed that they simply were eager to stop hiding their true selves.

"This is insane, they're just running around, like, 'Yahoo, now I'm going to bring my gun everywhere,'" Noah said. "'Let's go shopping and (to) the laundromat, and hey -- I'm late for my shift at the coffee shop.'"

Noah conceded that a little exuberance was fine, but he admitted that he still found it hard to accept that Texas was "out of the closet about being super-gay for guns."

"This is almost a little bit like when gay people first realized that society was starting to accept that people might be openly gay, and they immediately went out and started dancing on truck beds dressed as giant penises," Noah said. "Which, on the one hand, is great. I mean, you be you. But at a certain point, we get it: You love giant penises."
