President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to rage once again about the Alaska ballot, where Republicans are fretting because GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan is facing a minor candidate with the same name.
Trump, whose Justice Department is suing Alaska to try to stop any certification that has both Dan Sullivans on the ballot, reacted to new reporting that associates of Democratic candidate Mary Peltola may have been involved in helping the other Sullivan qualify, with an eye to spoiling the ballot.
"In Alaska, I don't think Mary Peltola, after perpetrating such a terrible scheme, should be allowed to run, because this is ELECTION FRAUD," wrote Trump. "The Democrats cheated! They found a man named Dan Sullivan, put him on the Ballot, then lied to the Court, and said they didn't know anything about it. That's perjury. She shouldn't be allowed to run, and neither should the FAKE Dan Sullivan!"
Commenters on social media reacted swiftly to Trump's new rant.
"Dan Sullivan's internals must be pretty grim," wrote journalist Aaron Rupar.
"It is neither 'election fraud' nor 'perjury,'" wrote conspiracy theory analyst Mike Rothschild. "It's dirty, but it's legal. Both parties do it, the AK ballot has been approved by the state supreme court, and the president can't do a damn thing about it."
"Trump is essentially arguing that Republican voters can't read a ballot without accidentally voting for the wrong person," wrote Alex Cole of Newsitics. "That's quite the endorsement of his base."
