'He is lying': Nagging detail spotted ahead of Trump's 'packed and loud' Ohio rally

President Donald Trump is headed to Ohio to rally with Sen. Jon Husted and gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. But one detail of the event caught some political observers' eyes.

Specifically, Trump's planned speech at Chillicothe is in a venue that looks to be one of the smallest the president has ever used.

This led to some indirect speculation about why Trump might have arranged for a smaller venue — and what he plans to claim about his rally after.

"I’ve covered dozens if not hundreds of Trump rallies and I can’t recall him ever holding one in a room as small as this arena in Chillicothe, Ohio," NBC News' chief White House correspondent Garrett Haake wrote on X. "It’ll be packed and loud- but maybe 1000 people will fit."

HuffPost White House correspondent S.V. Dáte, meanwhile, said: "A note on Trump's rally venue tonight: It is a gym at a branch campus of Ohio University. Its total capacity, including the floor, is maybe 3,000. So if Trump says there are 10,000, 15,000, 20,000 people there, he is lying."

Trump is trying to seal the election in the homestretch as both Husted and Ramaswamy face close races. Husted is challenged by former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown, while Ramaswamy faces Gov. Mike DeWine's former public health director Amy Acton, who has the wind at her back since Ramaswamy aired a controversial ad attacking her with her estranged mother who allegedly refused to protect her from sexual abuse.
