Trump campaign's digital director turns Mueller spotlight on Eric Trump

Eric Trump has seemingly escaped scrutiny in the special counsel probe of Russian election interference, but a top campaign official suggested that may change at some point.

Brad Parscale, the campaign's digital director, potentially implicated President Donald Trump's second son in a series of tweets responding to Michael Wolff's new book about the White House, reported Business Insider.

"Only skimmed the #MichaelWolff book #fire and fury and already found tons of false statements," Parscale tweeted Friday. "Time for me to write a book. I’m the only person that saw the entire campaign, family and knows what happened after. These are just more lies to continue the #FakeNews narrative!"

Parscale was brought on board the campaign by Jared Kushner, and he continues to serve as a presidential adviser and works for the pro-Trump political action group America First Policies.

He insisted that Kushner and Eric Trump -- not Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway -- were responsible for the president's surprising election win, but his claim could implicate both men in whatever events may have taken place to connect the campaign with Russian efforts to sway the election.

"Truth: Jared Kushner and @EricTrump were joint deputy campaign managers to @realDonaldTrump," Parscale tweeted. "Nobody else. Not one person made a decision without their approval. Others just took credit for this family’s amazing ability. I’m done with all these lies. They will be embarrassed!"

The tweet raises new questions about how involved Kushner and Eric Trump may have been in setting up a meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya to deliver damaging campaign information about Hillary Clinton, reporter Business Insider.

Investigators may also look into their roles in approving a Moscow trip for campaign aide Carter Page in July 2016 and changing the GOP's Ukraine platform during the Republican National Convention that month.

Parscale's tweet also points to the possibility that Kushner and Eric Trump were aware of efforts by George Papadopoulos to set up a meeting between then-candidate Donald Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Papadopoulos, a foreign policy adviser to the campaign, pleaded guilty in October to lying to FBI agents and agreed to cooperate in the special counsel probe.

Eric Trump could face new scrutiny now that the Trump Organization he oversees with his older brother has turned over documents to special counsel Robert Mueller, and investigators are already probing the Trump campaign's digital operations overseen by Kushner and Parscale.
