'Shove it': Canadians revolt after Trump says they'd have better health care as 51st state

President Donald Trump once again made a pitch to Canadian voters to join America as its "51st state" -- and was met with immediate backlash by Canadian citizens.

During his trip to North Carolina, Trump once again mused about incorporating Canada into America and even promised they'd have "much better health care coverage" if they joined.

In fact, Canada has a single-payer universal health care system that provides quality care at a far lower cost than what Americans pay in the United States.

Many Canadians took to X to roast Trump for believing they'd prefer to live under the American health-care system instead of their own.

"I quite like my universal healthcare," wrote retired nurse and Toronto resident Pamela Meyer. "No thanks."

"As a Canadian... LMAO," wrote YouTube influencer David Doel.

"Shove it up your a--," wrote one self-professed fan of the Edmonton Oilers. "We don't want to be you."

"Not a chance in hell would Canadians be better off with this 'deal,'" wrote Natalie Dionne on BlueSky. "Eff off eh."

Canadians weren't the only ones to laugh at Trump's claims about their country's health care system, as some American progressives also joined in to correct the record.

"Yes I’m sure Canadians would love to give up universal coverage for the highest prices and worst results in the developed world," joked progressive commentator Krystal Ball.

"Bankrupting premiums over free healthcare is so much better," wrote New Yorker cartoonist Mark Thompson on BlueSky. "You can’t beat Trump logic."
