'Contestant in a beauty pageant?' Trump roasted after self-admiring blue eyes brag

Former President Donald Trump's odd response to reports that he frequently naps through his criminal hush money trial triggered a wave of mockery on social media Thursday.

Trump's excuse, peppered with self admiration, appeared on Truth Social Thursday.

"I don’t fall asleep during the Crooked D.A.’s Witch Hunt, especially not today," Trump declared. "I simply close my beautiful blue eyes."

New York Times writer Maggie Haberman has spotted Trump nodding off on his first day of court and later put the tally at three courtroom naps in four days. And Former prosecutor Harry Litman saw Trump take a "bonafide nap" and two quick dozes on Friday.

Trump declared this was "fake news" and that he closed his eyes to "listen intensely, and take it ALL in!!!

Trump's rebuttal on Truth Social quickly devolved into fart jokes on X.

"Did he address the farting?" X user Marty wanted to know.

"Adding: I am also not farting," added @Mr_Yoyito. "I am just releasing the spirit of last night’s dinner."

Others had questions.

"And who describes THEMSELVES as having 'beautiful blue eyes'?" asked @DrKimShepherd. "It's so needy."

"My beautiful blue eyes"?! Trump's level of insecurity is insane," @ceeceemur added. "His desperation is delicious."

One X user took Trump's retort as a personal affront.

"As someone who has nice 'blue eyes', this is blasphemy to blue-eyed people," replied @ArbiterofCool. "Trump’s eyes are disgusting, vapid, and soulless."

And @ncscott wrote, “His beautiful, blue eyes, are you kidding me? Does he think he is a contestant in a beauty pageant?"
