Trump threatens retribution against Biden as he returns to court for fraud suit
October 25, 2023
Donald Trump is headed back to court in New York City, where he's on trial in a civil lawsuit for business fraud, and he threatened revenge against President Joe Biden.
The twice-impeached former president, who was already found liable for fraud by the presiding judge in that case, blamed Biden for his legal woes and suggested he would direct government officials to seek retribution if he wins his third run for the White House next year.
"I will soon be leaving for Crooked Joe Biden’s 'Political Opponent Court' in Lower Manhattan," Trump posted on Truth Social. "I have a very partisan and angry Judge, a Corrupt Attorney General, and am not allowed a Jury Trial under the Statute they have chosen to use (for the very first time ever!). The good news, that even the Fake News is seeing, is that the facts are ALL on my side! I BUILT A GREAT COMPANY, FAR BIGGER & STRONGER THAN ANYONE HAD ASSUMED!"
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
Trump's longtime attorney Michael Cohen testified Tuesday that he had been regularly tasked with "reverse-engineering" financial statements to "“achieve a number Mr. Trump asked," and that chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg would go line by line to inflate his assets until they hit the target number.
"This is a RIGGED TRIAL, right out of a Banana Republic, but sadly, it gives the Republicans the right to do the same thing when we assume office," Trump said, overtly threatening to conduct a show trial of his 2020 rival and likely 2024 opponent. "And remember, Crooked Joe Biden is the most CORRUPT (and Incompetent!) President in the history of the U.S., VERY FERTILE GROUND THERE, but very bad for our Country! This unfair political Witch Hunt is causing companies to leave New York at a record pace. They don’t want this to happen to them!"
Trump has made retribution a key theme of his re-election campaign and admitted that House Republicans had probably launched an impeachment inquiry into Biden and his family as revenge for his two impeachments as president.
“They did it to me,” Trump told former Fox and NBC host Megyn Kelly last month on her Sirius XM show, “and had they not done it to me, I think, and nobody officially said this, but I think had they not done it to me … perhaps you wouldn’t have it being done to them.”
