Trump high-rise development in Florida faces key vote as fraud threatens family business in New York

City officials in Florida will soon vote on the fate of a proposed development by the Trump Organization, which now faces an existential crisis following a fraud ruling out of a New York court.
The former president is seeking approval from Doral city officials to rezone his 54-acre golf resort to allow construction of several high-rise towers and retail buildings, which passed an initial 4-1 vote last October and will come up for a final vote Wednesday evening, reported Miami New Times.
The design plan submitted by Trump's team says the project would add five more buildings to the sprawling property, which already includes four golf courses, a clubhouse, a pool with 18 cabanas, hotel rooms and a spa, and the new development would add a four-story villa and four high-rise towers.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
The new project, called Doral International Towers, notably excludes the former president's name.
Some neighbors oppose the development, which would be near the city's fast-growing downtown, because they say it would cause overcrowding and traffic.
"I understand the property owner has rights," said one resident at a meeting last year. "But we also have the right to find a balance that will serve for the people here."
