Political analysts and observers were alarmed on Thursday after a new report indicated President Donald Trump's FBI called a "horrifying" meeting of state election officials.
Crooked Media's "What A Day" reported that election officials from all 50 states have been invited to a mysterious conference at the end of February where they are expected to discuss "preparations for the cycle" alongside the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and U.S. Election Assistance Commission. One election official described the meeting to Crooked Media's Matt Berg as "the strangest thing in the world."
The meeting was revealed at a time when experts are growing increasingly concerned about Trump's efforts to meddle in the 2026 midterm election. Trump recently called on Republicans to "nationalize" part of the election process to root out alleged "fraud."
Political analysts and observers reacted to the news on social media.
