AG Letitia James objects to expert witnesses Trump wants to call: court filing
November 08, 2023
Attorney General Letitia James' office filed an objection to having four of the 127 witnesses Donald Trump's lawyers said they might call as part of their defense.
The four were among the expert witnesses that Trump's team intended to call. They are Steven Laposa, of Laposa Realty Advisors,, Jason Flemmons, a forensic accounting expert, Steve Witkoff, a New York City real estate investor, and David Miller.
According to Law360's Stewart Bishop, three of the four witnesses were related to the first charge in the case that was already decided by a preliminary finding. Before the trial began, Judge Arthur Engoron ruled against Trump, finding him liable for fraud. There are still other issues, as well as damages, to be decided.
“Based on the Court’s Decision, Plaintiff’s affirmative case has been appropriately narrowed to establishing the Defendants’ intent to defraud, the amount of disgorgement, and facts bearing on Plaintiff’s entitlement to the forms of equitable relief not already awarded by the Court,” the AG's motion states.
