CNN's Harry Enten found an issue where President Donald Trump has even less support than his handling of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
The Department of Justice still hasn't complied with the Epstein Transparency Act and released investigative files on the late sex offender and longtime Trump friend, but Enten told "CNN News Central" that interest in that topic has declined as the 79-year-old president targets Greenland for takeover.
"So this is thewhole idea – the presidentof United States didn't like thefocus on the Epstein files," Enten said. "We're going to change thesubject and we're going to goover to Greenland, and from thatperspective, it's worked. Lookat this: Google searches versus December for the Epstein filesdown through the floor. Farfewer people are searching for Epstein files, down 72 percent. Ofcourse, you can't fall any lowerthan down being 100 percent versus for Greenland. Look at this: Thehighest on record, up like arocket, almost up 1,600 percent. Mygoodness gracious."
"So if theidea was to distract from the Epstein files and focus the American people onsomething else," he added, "it has been asuccess by that metric."
Host John Berman cautioned that there was no proof that Trump's intensified push for Greenland was related to the Epstein matter, but Enten pointed out that it was even less popular with the public.
"If this wasthe idea, right, well, it's a badidea politically speaking," Enten said. "Whydo I say that? Because take alook here: Trump's approvalrating on the Epstein files, look at that, just absolutelyawful – 38 points below water. But any try to buy Greenland issomehow even more unpopular.Look at this: It's 40 pointsbelow water. There is barely anissue out there that's worse for Donald Trump than the Epsteinfiles, but any attempts to buy Greenland or use military forceon Greenland, which even pollsworse than this, is one of them.It is arguably the mostunpopular thing that Donald Trump can try to do is mess with Greenland."
"So Greenland is polling worsethan the Epstein," Berman marveled.
