Trump Hotel gunman posted anti-Colin Kaepernick conservative memes online

A social media account associated with a South African man accused of shooting a gun inside the Trump National Doral Miami Resort featured a post from a conservative college group.

The Miami Herald reported that suspected gunman Jonathan Oddi was heard yelling "anti-Trump rhetoric" in the hotel's lobby early Friday morning — but that he also shared a post on Instagram from the pro-Trump group Turning Point USA known for their antics on college campuses.

In the post, a black US soldier named Glen Coffee is contrasted with controversial free agent Colin Kaepernick. Both men were born in 1987 and played for the San Francisco 49ers, but Coffee left football to join the military while Kaepernick gained notoriety for his police brutality protests during games.

"Who's the real hero?" the post asks.

In another post, he also praises First Lady Melania Trump for tempering Trump’s “aggressiveness.” The Miami Herald said his online activity showed “mixed political leanings.”

The 42-year-old Oddi reportedly lived close to the Trump resort, and was shot and apprehended by police after entering the hotel, grabbing a flag and yelling about the president.
