Trump humiliated his own DHS secretary because he suspects she's 'a Bush family plant': report

Reports dropped on Thursday night that President Donald Trump had humiliated his own Department of Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nielsen at a recent cabinet meeting, which prompted her to consider resigning.

According to the New York Times' Maggie Haberman, Trump's dispute with Nielsen isn't just about policy -- rather, it's part of a broader paranoid delusion about where his own DHS chief's loyalties truly lie.

"Someone, as sources have put it, has gotten it in his head that she is a Bush family plant," Haberman wrote of Trump's suspicions of Nielsen.

Haberman's tweet came in response to a tweet by fellow New York Times reporter Julie Davis, who explained that Nielsen's resignation threat had been "a long time in coming" because "Nielsen and Trump have clashed often and she has been a frequent target of his freewheeling immigration rants."

According to the New York Times' report, Trump has been angry that Nielsen has been "resisting his direction that parents be separated from their children when families cross illegally into the United States."
