Former President Donald Trump falsely accused President Joe Biden and North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) of "going out of their way to not help people in Republican areas" in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
In a post to social media on Monday, Trump revealed he was heading to Georgia "in order to pay my respects" following the hurricane. He vowed to provide supplies to communities in need.
Trump said he would bring "lots of relief material, including fuel, equipment, water, and other things."
The campaign stunt was expected to include meetings with "Franklin Graham, Burt Jones, Tyler Harper, Mike Collins, Austin Scott, Russ Goodman, Sam Watson, and the Mayor of Valdosta Scott James."
Trump also said that he had decided not to visit western North Carolina, which was devastated by the hurricane.
"I have a lot of supplies ready for them, but access and communication is now restricted, and we want to make sure that Local Emergency Management is able to focus on helping the people most affected, and not being concerned with me," he wrote.

"I'll be there shortly, but don't like the reports that I'm getting about the Federal Government, and the Democrat Governor of the State, going out of their way to not help people in Republican areas. MAGA!"
There was no evidence that Democratic officials were not providing relief specifically to "Republican areas."
