Jimmy Kimmel has lashed out at Donald Trump in an opening monologue where the president was labelled a "child".
The Jimmy Kimmel Live host had choice words for Trump, whose Truth Social posts over the long weekend were mocked. Trump shared screenshots from conversations with French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as an AI-generated image of himself with Marco Rubio and JD Vance behind him.
The posts, as well as Trump's ongoing push for Greenland to be taken into US control, were mocked by Kimmel during his monologue. He said, "He is just typing out a b***hy little message to the Prime Minister of Norway, a message that explicitly says 'since you didn't give me the [Nobel] Peace Prize, I'm thinking about taking Greenland away.' It's unheard of.
"There's nothing to compare it to in the history of humankind. This is like if we'd armed a real housewife with nuclear weapons. This man is crashing the plane because the stewardess didn't bring him a bag of peanuts. This is what happens to children who don't get what they want."
Kimmel went on to suggest the reason Trump is acting with such a tough mandate on Greenland is because he did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize. The talk show host added, "All because he didn't get a little medal around his neck. He's a child. His parents let him stay up late last night, he posted a lot of nonsense.
"At 1am, he posted this image of himself, Marco, and JD Vance, colonizing Greenland. I like this because even in an AI-generated image, JD and Marco are like, 'Jesus Christ what are we doing here?'
"We are on the verge of going to war over the Nobel Prize for Peace. The irony doesn't get more irony than that. We may be invading Europe again. Another D-Day, except this time the D stands for dumb."
Kimmel went on to say Trump posted his text with Macron as a response to having his own message to the Prime Minister of Norway publicized.
"Trump screen-grabbed that [Macron's post] and posted it, why I don't know," Kimmel said. "Does he think this makes him look good? Every one of these texts makes it look like they're talking to a chimp with a hand grenade."
