Trump and Ivanka met privately with fringe group of rightwing activists seeking jobs in administration: report

President Donald Trump had an "unusual" meeting with the wife of a Supreme Court justice, The New York Times reported Saturday.

Virginia "Ginni" Thomas, the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas, requested the meeting while the two were dining with the president and Ivanka Trump.

Ginni Thomas had a list of people she wanted Trump to appoint to his administration.

She was joined at the meeting by a rogues' gallery of far-right operatives, including anti-immigrant activists Frank Gaffney and Rosemary Jenks along with Connie Hair, the chief of staff to Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX).

Ivanka Trump also attended part of the meeting, during which her father complained of the negative press she receives.

"One woman in the group argued that women should not serve in the military because they do not have the physical capacity that men do, according to the people familiar with the events," The Times reported.

The meeting raised eyebrows among White House supporters, with "some close to Mr. Trump said it was inappropriate for Ms. Thomas to have asked for a meeting with the head of a different branch of government."
