A Republican voter urged President Donald Trump and his party Thursday to stop blaming former President Joe Biden and focus on keeping their own promises.
Karen, a North Carolina caller participating in C-SPAN’s coverage of the Republican midterm convention, said the GOP’s biggest challenge is getting people to vote. She expressed concern about low turnout and acknowledged that many Americans are struggling with the economy.
“We need to move on,” the caller said when asked whether Republicans’ message that they need more time to repair the damage they attribute to Biden still resonates. “I think we beat Biden to death.”
She added that Republicans should instead prioritize their own agenda.
“We just need to do what we said we were going to do,” she said.
Karen also dismissed Trump’s newly announced proposal to give every adult American a $5,000 “Trump dividend” if Republicans retain both chambers of Congress.
“I think the $5,000 is not important,” the Republican said. “I just think if you love this country, you need to get out and cast your vote.”
Trump unveiled the proposed payments Wednesday during his convention speech in Dallas, although he did not explain how they would be funded or implemented.
