Donald Trump's oldest sister, Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, died on Monday.
Despite her trashing the former president both publicly and privately, the younger Trump posted glowing comments about her on Tuesday, praising her as being "a truly beautiful woman, tall and elegant, with a presence like no other."
He then turned to explain that he was the victim of relentless attacks — and she was caught in the targets too.
"Her life was largely problem-free, PERFECT, until I made it difficult for her when I decided to run for President," Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"The Fake News, and others, went after her mercilessly, and because of the fact that she felt it inappropriate, due to her position, to defend herself, it just never stopped! While tough and strong, she was made to suffer in those years from 2016 until her Retirement."
Trump went on to say that, "Many times people would come up to me" and talk about his sister being, "The smartest person on the Court.” Barry sat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and was appointed by former President Bill Clinton. She ultimately became the Senior Judge at the Third Circuit in 2011.
"I was always honored by that, but understood exactly what they meant — They were right!" said Trump. "She was a great Judge, and a great sister. She will be truly missed!"
Barry had, at times, referred to Trump as a "brat" and a "liar."
"All he wants to do is appeal to his base," Barry told her niece, Dr. Mary Trump, for her book about the Trump family's psychosis. "He has no principles. None."
She went on, "I'm talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying."
She was disgusted by what Trump was "doing with the kids at the border" after it was discovered migrant children were being separated from their families, and he threatened to send her all of the immigrant cases to handle. She reportedly laughed at him.
"Well, I guess he hasn't read my immigration opinions," she said.
"What has he read?" Mary Trump followed.
"No, he doesn't read," Barry said, calling him incredulous.
Trump's oldest brother, Fred Jr., died many years ago, and his other brother, Robert, died near the end of the Trump administration in Aug. 2020. He has another sister, Elizabeth.
