Retired Air Force Col. Morris Davis expressed surprise Monday after finding himself agreeing with several prominent Republicans, including far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer.
“First I found myself agreeing with @AdamKinzinger and @Liz_Cheney and I felt weird,” Davis wrote. “Then I found myself agreeing with @RandPaul and I felt queasy. Now I find myself agreeing with Laura Loomer and I feel like my wife must have put crack in my grits.”
The social media post from Davis, once the chief prosecutor at Guantanamo Bay, came in response to Loomer’s post slamming President Donald Trump’s willingness to accept a $400 million jumbo jet from the Qatari government.

“I love President Trump,” Loomer wrote Monday. “I would take a bullet for him. But, I have to call a spade a spade. We cannot accept a $400 million ‘gift’ from jihadists in suits.”
The jet proposal, reportedly a lavish Boeing 747-8, ignited widespread criticism and ethical concerns from experts and lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
Despite the criticism, Trump said he would take the foreign government up on their offer.
“I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer,” he told reporters Monday. “I mean, I could be a stupid person and say, ‘No, we don’t want a free, very expensive airplane.’”
