President Donald Trump has interviewed a member of his outside legal defense team to replace White House counsel Don McGahn, The Washington Postreported Friday.
The newspaper cited two sources "familiar with the president's thinking" who say Trump interviewed Washington, DC attorney Pat Cipollone for the position.
Cipollone is a partner at the law firm of Stein Mitchell Cipollone Beato & Missner LLP and has been advising the outside legal team.
His law firm brags about his litigation skillset, including his "substantial expertise in defamation counseling and litigation on behalf of corporations, organizations and public figures, including prepublication negotiations and/or litigation with major media organizations."
His firm also highlighted his experience in, "constitutional cases with emphasis on first amendment issues."
The news came as President Trump has increased his attacks on press freedom, often deriding journalists as the "enemy of the people."
