Trump's new 'acting chief of staff' Mulvaney trashed him when he was running for president

On Friday, President Donald Trump announced on Twitter that budget director Mick Mulvaney would serve as his acting chief of staff.

Even though Mulvaney accepted the position, he once said that he supported Trump by "default" and admitted that he believes the president is a "terrible human being," according to a report from the Daily Beast.

“Yes, I am supporting Donald Trump, but I’m doing so despite the fact that I think he’s a terrible human being,” he said during a November 2016 congressional debate against Democrat Fran Person.

Trump has had a difficult time fulfilling the position of chief of staff since Gen. John Kelly announced that he would be leaving by the end of the year. chief of staff to Mike Pence, Nick Ayers declined to take the role.

The White House has not responded to a request for comment from the Daily Beast.
