Trump's presidency has reduced Sean Hannity to a conspiracy-obsessed laughingstock: media critic

Vox.com media critic Carlos Maza released a new video on Wednesday detailing Fox News host Sean Hannity's descent into a morass of Alex Jones-style conspiracy-mongering.

Maza said that Hannity's reporting has become increasingly unhinged in his ongoing effort to keep his audience distracted from the failures and multiple scandals of President Donald Trump's administration.

"What the f*ck is happening here?" Maza asked, pointing to Hannity fans' bout of angrily destroying Keurig coffee makers in response to an advertising boycott.

It's what happens, Maza said, when "the loudest voice in the Fox News universe goes full conspiracy theorist."

Hannity has become Trump's "permanent spokesman on Fox News," doling out slavishly favorable coverage and eagerly stirring up conspiracy theories when he perceives that the president is under threat.

Given the huge number of scandals Trump has needed someone to run interference on, Hannity has had to go further and further afield of established facts to get his stories, to the point that he's now promoting patently false stories from Alex Jones' conspiracy hug InfoWars.com.

This week, Hannity got lambasted by an attorney representing one of Roy Moore's accusers who hammered the host's lack of "journalistic integrity" and said she would never subject her client to the "bullying" she would receive by agreeing to appear on Hannity's show.
