Trump's press secretary trots out ridiculous new excuse to justify the president's lies

President Donald Trump has shattered records for presidential dishonesty during his two-and-a-half years in office, and the Washington Post reported earlier this month that the president has made more than 12,000 false or misleading claims over the course of his tenure.

In an interview with the Washington Post flagged by CNN fact checker Daniel Dale, new White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham claims that the president never lies, while insisting that the thousands of false statements he makes are just his unique way of communicating to the American people.

"I don’t think they’re lies," Grisham said when asked about the president's 12,000-plus falsehoods. "I think the president communicates in a way that some people, especially the media, aren’t necessarily comfortable with. A lot of times they take him so literally. I know people will roll their eyes if I say he was just kidding or was speaking in hypotheticals, but sometimes he is. What I’ve learned about him is that he loves this country and he’s not going to lie to this country."

Earlier this month, Trump humiliated Grisham after she claimed that the president didn't put any pressure on the Israeli government to bar Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) from visiting their country -- only to have the president directly put pressure on Israel to keep them out just hours later via Twitter.
