Two GOP state governments invite Trump to deliver State of Union

Despite House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asking President Donald Trump to postpone his State of the Union address until the government is reopened, some GOP leaders are adamant about the president giving his address.

Michigan’s GOP House Speaker Lee Chatfield invited the president to deliver the speech in the House chamber of the state capitol. His invite was even retweeted by Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel.

"Because some have chosen to stand in the way of your official duties, we would be honored to host you in our Capitol for this necessary address to our nation,” Chatfield said.

Trump was also invited to give the State of Union from North Carolina. Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives Tim Moore said Trump was welcomed to deliver his speech at that North Carolina General Assembly chambers.

"I am honored to invite you to speak to the American people in this year’s State of the Union address from the North Carolina House of Representatives," his statement read.

Pelosi originally asked Trump to postpone the address for security reasons.
