Two men accidentally shot by one bullet while sitting in a car outside Utah gun show

Two men were accidentally shot and wounded by a single bullet during a mishap outside a Utah gun show.

The men were sitting in a car about 3:45 p.m. Saturday outside the International Sportsmen's Expo in Sandy when the gun accidentally discharged, reported KUTV-TV.

One of the men was handing the firearm to the other man when the weapon was accidentally fired.

The bullet struck one man in the hand, ricocheted and then struck the second man in the leg.

Both men were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police aren't investigating the shooting as a criminal matter, so no charges are expected in the incident outside the Mountain America Expo Center.

Officers did remind gun owners to treat every firearm as if it's loaded at all times to prevent similar accidental shootings.
