A Republican member of the House of Representatives, who has a history of outbursts, raged he will be “at war” over the shooting death of far-right conservative activist Charlie Kirk on X on Wednesday morning.
Rep. Derrick Van Order (R-WI) also compared the killing of the conservative activist to the 9/11 terrorist attack that took the lives of 2,977 people from 90 different countries.
On X, Van Orden posted a photo of the Twin Towers exploding next to a photo of the late Kirk, and used the anniversary of the terrorist attack that rocked the world to make his point.
“Today we remember those lost on September 11, 2001. It was the reason I went to war for over 20 years. Yesterday is the reason I will be at war for the next 20,” he wrote. Despite the lack of a suspect and therefore or a motive in the killing of Kirk at a Utah college campus, he added, “I will not allow these leftist scumbags to take my country.”
One commenter did note to Van Orden, “That rhetoric is what’s gotten us here. It’s despicable. Both sides. All of Congress should be ashamed for stoking such division and anger.”
