Vice President JD Vance blew his top in a cursing tirade as two tech billionaires made him wait off-stage at a recent government event, according to reports.
The Daily Mail reported that the blowup happened at the America.gov launch, after a conversation between Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stretched past the 30-minute mark. Four people familiar with the episode told the outlet that Vance, who was behind schedule, grew increasingly irritated as he watched from behind the scenes.
On stage near the National Mall, the two men were discussing artificial intelligence and global tech competition, according to the report.
The sources said Vance berated his communications team, complaining the program had run far too long and telling them to get Musk and Huang “the f--- off" the stage.
Aides then "hurried to the production area" and pressed event planners, warning that Vance "would be pulled from the lineup" altogether unless the pair finished, the Mail reported. Staffers were overheard telling organizers, “Vance is the Vice President of the United States.”
The event took place Sept. 29 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, where the administration debuted America.gov.
The site uses AI to point visitors toward services scattered across federal agency websites. Joe Gebbia, the U.S. chief design officer, described it as “a new front door for the federal government,” and President Donald Trump called it “a reinvention of your government for the 21st century and beyond.”
Musk has figured in Vance’s orbit before. When he and Trump feuded publicly in June 2025, Vance stayed largely quiet for hours before posting late that night that he was proud to stand beside Trump.
