Moments after MS NOW host Joe Scarborough took Vice President JD Vance to the woodshed over his hectoring Pope Leo XIV on theology, the entire panel has a good laugh about the tiny crowd that showed up to see him at Akins Ford Arena on the University of Georgia campus in Athens.
As co-host Jonathan Lemire started to comment on Vance’s appearance at the Turning Point USA event, the "Morning Joe" producers showed a clip of the arena that appeared about twenty percent full, with the few attendees closest to the stage and the rest of the room empty.
That led Scarborough to blurt, “Wait, hold on a second. Is that a is that a [NFL] Falcons football game? Can we see that? Can we see those seats again?”
“Yeah. The smallest crowd in Atlanta since —yeah,” Lemire remarked.
“Whoa,” co-host Mika Brzezinski interrupted.
“Since the last time the Falcons played, and I'm a huge Falcons fan,” Scarborough joked. “But this is a ‘Boring Point USA,’ like that. That's not good. Whoa.”
“No, that's not good,” Lemire agreed. “And certainly Vice President Vance's comments there about both Ukraine and the pope, just you know, beyond the pale for many.”
