Virginia Republican panics over anti-faith conspiracy so huge he can’t even prove it

A Virginia Republican lawmaker said he would need at least two overhead screens to illustrate the links between well-funded organizations he claims are trying to destroy American religious faith.

Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Chesapeake) outlined the conspiracy during a sermon last month at Great Bridge Baptist Church in his hometown, but he told congregants that he didn't have enough time to offer any evidence, reported Right Wing Watch.

Forbes was promoting Pray USA, an initiative by the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation to encourage government officials to lead churches in prayer, when he warned that the government had grown increasingly hostile to religious expression.

This, the elected official warned, was no accident.

"Let me just tell you one of the myths that's out there," Forbes said. "It's easy for us to somehow just think that all of this just evolved because people on the internet, they're reading more and they're getting more intellectual and somehow or the other, it's like they've discovered the world isn't flat anymore and therefore we don't believe in God and we don't believe in faith."

He claimed he had so much evidence to prove his startling claims that he would need more time, more screens -- or perhaps even both.

"If I had the time, which I don't have, I could put up on this screen or on this screen or on both of them the proof that would show you this isn't some natural evolution, this is artificially driven," Forbes said. "I can show you organization after organization after organization to a network that would frighten you because it would be vast that you couldn't get it on that screen, of organizations that are funded and paid with a systematic approach to killing and destroying faith in America today."

The lawmaker urged congregants to open their wallets.

"Most people don't even realize it, and let me tell you, the dollars going into that organization is nine times the dollars going into the organizations trying to defend and protect faith in America," Forbes said.
