A gay couple tricked an anti-LGBT pizza shop into catering their same-sex wedding.

The owners of Memories Pizza sparked a nationwide backlash earlier this year when they boasted they would never serve food at a gay wedding, but Robin Trevino and his husband, Jason Delgatto, did just that.

The couple had a wedding ceremony in Illinois in 2008, before their marriage was technically legal in the state. They obtained an official license a year later in Iowa, although they were unable to celebrate with family and friends at that time.

The couple celebrated a renewal of their vows Saturday as part of a nationwide celebration of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states.

Trevino is a member of the GayCo Ensemble comedy troupe, which is producing a "50 States of Gay" celebration, and he got the idea to renew their wedding vows when he realized how close he was to Memories Pizza while working in Indiana, reported the Friendly Atheist blog.

He drove to Walkerton, where he ordered two pizzas from Crystal O'Connor -- who said she would deny service for a same-sex wedding reception after state lawmakers passed the anti-LGBT Religious Freedom Restoration Act in March.

Trevino and Delgatto exchanged vows in a celebration joined by their 1-year-old daughter, and the couple served Memories Pizza to their cheering friends and family.

"Memories Pizza just catered our gay wedding," Trevino announced as friends shrieked with delight.
