Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is debating Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke tonight at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

The highly anticipated debate features Cruz, who prides himself on what he believes are strong debating skills, against a challenger who is polling even with in a state that has not elected a Democrat to statewide office in a generation.
