WATCH: Meryl Streep pulls off epic Trump impersonation with a fat suit and orange makeup
June 07, 2016
Meryl Streep has convincingly played men before -- check out her performance as a rabbi in Angels in America if you need proof -- so it's not totally unthinkable that she'd try to pull off a Donald Trump impersonation at some point.
Via Entertainment Weekly, Streep donned a fat suit, orange makeup and a ridiculous yellow wig to impersonate Trump at the annual Shakespeare in the Park Public Theater Gala. Streep was joined by fellow actress Christine Baranski, who impersonated Hillary Clinton, and the two sang a parody version of Cole Porter's song "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" from the musical Kiss Me Kate.
"You’ll let me know why it is all the women say no," sang Streep while doing her best to imitate Trump's thick Queens accent.
"Brush up your Shakespeare and the women you will wow,” Baranski replied. “Just declaim a few lines from Othello, and they’ll think you’re a hell of a fella."
