MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle had some fun on Friday, hilariously breaking the fourth wall to ask President Donald Trump a "legal" question.

Ruhle made the comment wrapping up a discussion about Mueller report's revelation that Trump criticized former White House counsel Don McGahn for taking notes.

"He watches cable news, can I ask the president one question?" Ruhle said, turning co-host Ali Velshi.

"If real lawyers don't take notes, why do they call those yellow-lined really extra-long notepads, why do they call them legal pads?" she asked. "Just wondering."

"Because they take notes," Ruhle interjected as Velshi, laughing, tried to cut to commercial.
