'We only tip citizens': Virginia couple stiffs non-white server after mistaking her for immigrant

A Virginia couple reportedly stiffed a waitress in Harrisonburg and left a racially-charged note suggesting they had mistaken her for an immigrant.

A photo of a receipt posted on Facebook by John Elledge shows a nasty note scrawled in the area where a tip amount is normally specified.

"We only tip citizens," the note reads.

Elledge later confirmed that the note was left for his granddaughter, Sadie Karina, who works as a server at Jess' Lunch Downtown.

WHSV reportedly obtained surveillance video of the couple as they stiffed Karina, who is a U.S. citizen.

"I'd happily do the jail time if I could get just one solid punch in to the face of the son of a bitch who paid for his meal at the luncheonette where my granddaughter works," Elledge wrote.
