White House aides were reportedly "surprised" at how much information House Democrats have requested in their investigations of Donald Trump — and are crafting their push back accordingly.
CNN's Kaitlan Collins noted on Twitter that although "aides expected an onslaught of investigations when Democrats won the House," House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) "surprised" them with his "broad" requests on Monday for documents on 81 organizations and individuals.
"White House officials are preparing to push back on Chairman Nadler's expansive document request to preserve what they say is the president's right to confidentiality," Collins wrote, adding that the Trump administration may try to limit the number of documents they'll produce.
"Those officials now say they are bracing for more," the CNN correspondent noted, "and believe an effort to go after Trump's tax returns could be next."
