Monday evening CNN's Chris Cuomo did an interview with LaVar Ball, the father of a UCLA basketball player arrested for allegedly stealing sunglasses in China. Ball refused to thank President Donald Trump for saying something to Chinese President Xi Jinping about releasing the players and sending them back. The incident began a monstrous feud between Ball and Trump which prompted Trump supporters to attack Ball. The problem, however, was that Trump's supporters confused actor LeVar Burton for LaVar Ball.
It was enough to make "The View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg miffed by the "vicious attack" against Ball, but shocked Trump's fans couldn't tell the difference between two black men.
"People don't do their homework!" she exclaimed. "So, what did they do? They went after the wrong LaVar. They sent their crappy tweets to LeVar Burton. Let me just point out which is which."
She walked to the giant screen on the back wall with the photos of the two men.
Pointing to Burton, Whoopi rattled off all of the things he is famous for, such as "Reading Rainbow," "Roots" and "Star Trek." Pointing to Ball she said "dad of ball player."
"Now, listen, I know some people don't realize that we don't all look alike," she continued. "I feel I should point out that we don't all have one name."
Co-host Sara Haines was breaking into hysterics at the absurdity. "They don't even look alike!"
"No! They don't look anything alike!" Goldberg repeated. "And that's the real piss-off here, because what people wrote was so vicious and nasty. When LeVar Burton said, 'Hey, I'm not that guy.' People said, 'Yes you are!' So, let me say this: They're different spellings. They are two black men. As you know, we don't all look alike and we don't have one name!"
