A law firm hit back at President Donald Trump after finding itself in his crosshairs over its ties to former special counsel Robert Mueller.
Trump directed agencies to strip the firm WilmerHale of its security clearances and restrict its access to federal buildings. The order also revoked government contracts from companies it represents.
Notably, the order specifically flagged the firm's ties to Mueller, who worked at the firm for three years in the 1990s, then again in 2014 as a partner.
“Mueller’s investigation epitomizes the weaponization of government,” the executive order said, according to the report.

Trump vowed retribution against his perceived enemies on the campaign trail and has long declared the Russian meddling investigation a "hoax."
But unlike other law firms that have sought to make amends with Trump, WilmerHale defended itself, telling media outlets in a statement, "Our firm has a longstanding tradition of representing a wide range of clients, including in matters against administrations of both parties."
"The Executive Order references Robert Mueller, who retired from our firm in 2021, and had a long, distinguished career in public service, from his time as a Marine Corps officer in Vietnam to his leadership of the FBI in the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks," the firm said.
The firm added: "We remain committed to providing the expert representation that our clients are entitled to and rely upon. We look forward to pursuing all appropriate remedies to this unlawful order."
